1999 vw beetle already striped


Alan picked a 1999 vw beetle for this electric conversion and the car is already striped from the old engine and ready for the her new life.

cleaning and scrubbing

cleaning and scrubbing all the oil and grease that the fuel engine left

progress update

new cv axle installed and the transmission back to its place still waiting for the electric motor adapter.

clutch on electric motor

the clutch is connected to the electric motor and alan makes a run up to breaking the new brushes.

emergency pull and gauge pod

Alan shows the emergency pull he built to shut off the electricity in emergency situation alan also installed a gauge pod that shows the battery the amp meter and the vacuum pump

electric motor mounting difficulties

the electric motor mounting is not going smooth because one of the motor mount is too big
but the vacuum pump have been mounted.

front battery mount

the front battery mount is ready and the lithium ion batteries are in the back battery box

making a cover plate to cover the place where the starter use to be

progress update changing the clutch slave of the manual transmission and put it back.

electric cab,charger placing and electric car fans

the gas cab replaced to an electric cab for 220v and 110v charging.
find a place for the charger in the back of the car.
and starting to think how to mount the electric car fans.

electric motor mount and front battery box mount

new electric motor mount has arrived afterwards the front battery box mount installed

finding a place for all the parts under the hood

alan tries to figure out how to fit all the parts like the battery box,control box,the controller,DC to DC convertor and more under the hood.

still waiting for the front battery box

alan is still waiting for the front battery box to start the mounting the parts in the car front

monting the shunt,fuse,controller and control box

monting the electric car shunt and fuse on the front of the front battery box and afterwards the controller is mounted too.
and afterwards the control box is mounted on the top of the front battery box

self fabricate parts and some more

alan fabricates a cable holder from aluminum and afterwards puts the battery box with all the mounted parts to see how its fit
